Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll Part 1 10/05/2013
If there was a
motto for my generation that would probably be it. While
I examine the issue of poverty in America I wouldn't be a
very honest person if I wasn't willing to first look at my own life
and take responsibility for the choices I have made. I want to
begin the subject of human trafficking by saying it is one of
the tragic reality's of our time that its is
almost a rare occasion now to meet someone male or female who has
NOT been physically, sexually or in some other way abused or
exploited. Prostitution is
often called a
victimless crime but in
reality it's another form of slavery that too often begins when
victims are
young. My sexual abuse
started when I was 2yrs old and continued at different times of my
childhood until I left home at
16.
I had gotten
my G.E.D and I had dreams of making a better life for myself.
Because of some of those experiences in my past I missed out on
learning life skills and self value and that made me an easy target
for the world of prostitutionwhen I couldn't find
a job living on the streets. The culture of
pornography was always a part of that life, it is the fuel
for the sex industry and sexual violence/objectification of men and
women. I eventually was able to get a job as a veterinary
assistant and got off the streets but not
beforeat different times during my career in the
sex industry I was sexually assaulted, shot, stabbed and thrown from
a moving vehicle. Believe it or not I was one of the lucky
ones I survived and got out most don't. Nobody ever told me
that I was worth more than my sexuality,it's taken me 15yrs and
almost losing my sanity to learn that and come back to me again.
What happened to me could happen to anyone, I'm sharing my story
because human trafficking and sexual slavery is a growing global
problem.
It is not a victimless crime
